Master Reproduction Pickguard Project
The Master Reproduction Pickguard Project is a Labor of Love project for RR. We are passionate about restoring vintage guitars in the most Realistic way possible. In our opinion the pickguard is the main "face" of the guitar. For anyone with even a little bit of an eye for Vintage Spec, there's no easier tell that an original guitar has been unfortunately modified than when you see a Pre-CBS guitar with Modern & Incorrect Parts.
So as our skill and passion grows, we will now start offering Master Reproduction Pickguards as 1 of 1 Tailored items specifically for your prized guitar. This project is dedicated exclusively for Pre-CBS owners looking to bring their Originals back to the glory it deserves. You'll work 1 on 1 with our founder (Quinton G) for a Masterbuilt style experience, tailored individually to each guitar itself, achieving the exact look you desire and matching the look of your guitars unique story.
No Detail Is Missed, even down to the common imperfections found on original guards are recreated in exact detail (filing markings, trem cavity angles, router chip out, etc). These Master Reproduction Pickguards are a testament to RR's passion for perfection.
Here are some examples of our Material - Color matched to my Original 1963 Strat with : This is the true color of old nitrate.

The problem with buying standard "mint green" colored pickguards and using them on vintage guitars is that the original guards discolored in a unique way. Modern material is a perfectly consistent color throughout, whereas Vintage pickguards discolor inconsistently across the surface (usually maintaining the original color on the back side) and they "go green" in varying areas. Even on the cleanest original guards it's not one consistent color throughout, there is subtle variations, the discoloration is naturally inconsistent across the surface based on the life the guard lived, wether it's very Lightly or Heavily Discolored. We recreate the same effect which achieves an Ultra Realistic finish.

A Pair of 1962 Heavily Discolored RR Repros
We genuinely believe nothing else will restore the glory of your prized instrument other than if you're lucky enough to find an original guard that hasn't shrunken beyond fitting or already been routed for extra holes etc. plus even then with these flaws and prices starting at around $2000+, resellers don't guarantee that it will even fit correctly.. let alone match the vibe of your guitar.
One of our customers unfortunately spent nearly $3500 USD for a "Primo example / Drop In" Original 1964 Guard which arrived way too shrunken to fit and was completely non-refundable.. These stories are far too common because the ones that do come up for sale are usually taken off their original guitars for a reason, or haven't been stored properly for many years..
So where do we come in? We create a 1 for 1 clone in excruciating detail - Front & Back

Most modern pickguards you can buy are fresh sheets of wrong colored plastic coming straight off a CNC - does that in any way reflect how the originals were made or looked? Even the Fender® 62 Mint Pickguard you can buy right now comes with a modern 0.090" Thickness, No Chatter Marks on the Bevel, a Modern 45 degree Bevel & No Hand Finishing whatsoever.. and as you can see in this Original Fender Factory Photo every pickguard was Finished by Hand:

1960's Fender Factory: Nitrate Guards being Hand Finished & Buffed: One of the reasons for the rounded bevel edge is the Nitrate Material easily "melts" under friction so with all of these guards being finished by hand they would all have varying amounts of rounding o the bevel based on how the individual guard was polished

The pricing itself will be significant & dependant on the project itself (Starting at $349 USD). Now we agree and acknowledge that no piece of plastic is "worth" a big chunk of change.. but what you're paying for here is the labour itself - these Master Reproduction guards can take more than a full day to complete in such convincing fashion. From start to finish your guard will be crafted by hand to make the most realistic replica available on the planet, being made in very limited numbers for select customers. Made from start to finish exclusively by our Founder (Quinton G).
